August Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month

August’s Beer of the Month is Oxbow Brewing’s No. 1, a pale farmhouse ale brewed with 60% Maine-grown pilsner malt, 30% flaked rice, and 10% Maine-grown raw rye. No. 1 is hopped with noble European hops and spiced with a touch of lemon peel. 4-packs of 12 oz cans are available for $10.99.

The wine special for August is Le Petit Balthazar Blanc. Super-fresh, dry, and juicy, this southern French wine is a blend of Viognier (stone fruit, melon, and orange blossoms) with Sauvignon Blanc (snappy acidity, citrus, and grassy freshness). Cocktail of the Month

Goldie’s Berry Gin Fizz

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz of Goldie’s Gin
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc.)
  • Club soda
  • Ice 

Instructions:

First, muddle the berries in a shaker. Next, add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a glass filled with ice and top with club soda. Add the finishing touch by garnishing with the whole berries or a lemon wheel.
