Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month: Our April Picks

Spring is officially in swing, bringing with it a shift toward lighter, more vibrant flavors—just in time for our hand-picked April selections.

This month we’re highlighting a hoppy West Coast IPA, a light and fruity Pinot Noir, and a white rum blended from three regions in the Caribbean: Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad.

April Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month

Sebago Brewing Company’s Stratisfied IPA is our April Beer of the Month, and clocks in at 7.5% ABV. A West Coast IPA, Stratisfied is boldly hopped at 3 lbs per barrel with Strata hops, giving it the classic sticky hop kick in the mouthfeel with the tropical fruit, berry, and candied notes associated with newer hop varieties. 6-packs of 12 oz cans are available for $11.99 and 12-packs for only $17.99.

Our April Wine of the Month is Pas de Probleme Pinot Noir. This easygoing Pinot Noir is fruity, juicy, and unoaked. Aromatic notes of raspberry, redcurrant, and wild strawberry are complemented by hints of mocha, thyme, and rosemary. Bottles are available for $11.99.

Planteray Rum 3 Stars is our April Liquor of the Month. A tribute to historic Caribbean rums, it’s a smooth blend of three star terroirs: Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad. 3 Stars stands out from other white rums thanks to a combination of both aged and unaged rums, expertly blended by Planteray. Pick up a bottle to enjoy for $20.99.

Cocktail of the Month

This month’s recipe, Tropical Star Daiquiri, is a refined twist on the classic daiquiri and features our liquor of the month, Plantation 3 Stars White Rum.

Tropical Star Daiquiri

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Plantation 3 Stars White Rum
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz passion fruit syrup (or simple syrup for a classic take)
  • 0.25 oz Falernum (optional, for a spiced touch)
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Lime wheel or dehydrated citrus for garnish

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well for about 10-12 seconds, until the ingredients are chilled. Double strain into a chilled Martini glass (unless you have a coupe or Nick & Nora glass handy), then garnish with a lime wheel or dehydrated citrus.

The Tropical Star Daiquiri balances the citrusy brightness of lime with the slight funk of Plantation 3 Stars and the tropical sweetness of passion fruit. Falernum and orange bitters add a subtle spice for depth.
