Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz bourbon or dark rum (or apple brandy for a more festive flavor)
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup (for a seasonal sweetness)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 star anise (optional to add extra warmth)
- 4 oz hot apple cider (instead of water for a Thanksgiving twist)
- 1 lemon slice (garnish)
- A dash of freshly grated nutmeg (garnish)
- Orange peel (garnish)
Instructions:
In a heatproof glass or mug, combine the bourbon (or your spirit of choice), maple syrup, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise.
Heat the apple cider until it’s steaming, then pour it into the glass over the spices and syrup. Stir everything gently to combine, giving the spices time to infuse.
Garnish with a lemon slice, an orange peel twist, and add a light sprinkle of nutmeg for a little extra flair for this Thanksgiving-inspired Hot Toddy.
