Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month: Our November Picks

The days are growing much shorter and the nights much longer, inviting us to gather and indulge in hearty favorites that bring comfort. Embrace the spirit of gratitude and togetherness with these seasonal delights!

This month we’re featuring a twist on the traditional Gunner’s Daughter from Mast Landing, a red wine featuring flavors of dark berries and coffee beans, and a Kentucky Bourbon that’s flavorful and smooth enough to sip on its own.

November Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month

November’s Beer of the Month is Mast Landing Brewing Company’s PB&J Gunner’s Daughter. This 5.5% milk stout is a peanut butter and jelly version of Mast Landing’s flagship milk stout, Gunner’s Daughter, but with the addition of raspberries. 4-packs of 16 oz cans are available for $13.79.

Mary Taylor Manchuela from Rus Jimenez is November’s Wine of the Month. The wine is made from Moravia Agria grapes grown on forty-five year-old vines, fermented with native yeasts, and raised in stainless steel. It tastes deep and complex, and features a bouquet of cassis, tree bark, dark berries, coffee bean, dark soil tones, a touch of sweet botanicals, and features a smoky topnote. Bottles are available for only $11.99.

Our November Liquor of the Month is Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond. This Kentucky Bourbon features warm notes of vanilla, honey and a rich caramel sweetness on the nose, and the taste is smooth and warm. There’s a subtle rye spice note; and caramel and honey mingle with just enough oak and char to round out the rich flavor. Bottled-in-Bond costs $49.99 per bottle, and is perfect to enjoy in a cocktail or neat.

Thanksgiving Hot Toddy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz bourbon or dark rum (or apple brandy for a more festive flavor)
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup (for a seasonal sweetness)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise (optional to add extra warmth)
  • 4 oz hot apple cider (instead of water for a Thanksgiving twist)
  • 1 lemon slice (garnish)
  • A dash of freshly grated nutmeg (garnish)
  • Orange peel (garnish)

Instructions:

In a heatproof glass or mug, combine the bourbon (or your spirit of choice), maple syrup, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise.

Heat the apple cider until it’s steaming, then pour it into the glass over the spices and syrup. Stir everything gently to combine, giving the spices time to infuse.

Garnish with a lemon slice, an orange peel twist, and add a light sprinkle of nutmeg for a little extra flair for this Thanksgiving-inspired Hot Toddy.
